JONATHAN PERRY | Director

Tufts University, B.A., Anthropology, B.A., Latin American Studies; The Fletcher School at Tufts University, M.A.L.D., International Development and Global Political Economy

Jonathan is based in Bogotá, Colombia, and has worked in international development and cooperation, education policy, and social finance. Most recently, he has been at the Colombian Ministry of Education, where he authored the 10-year policy framework for early childhood education and advised the director for early childhood education. Previously, he worked at Instiglio, a non-profit social finance advisory firm, and the World Bank’s office for Latin America and the Caribbean. Born in Venezuela to Colombian and American parents, Jonathan has worked and lived in six countries across Latin America and speaks Spanish and Portuguese fluently. He loves being outside, playing music, reading, and keeping up with world news. He has led Putney Community Service programs in Argentina and Peru, and has also been an instructor on Putney’s Pre-College at Amherst College program.

RYANNE FUJITA-CONRADS

Reed College, B.A., Sociology

While at Reed, Ryanne’s studies focused on Spanish and the sociology of race and immigration. During college, Ryanne taught hands-on science classes to sixth graders and led ESL tutoring sessions for Portland day laborers. She spent six months studying sociology and Spanish in Barcelona, Spain. Ryanne served as student leader of the Ecuador Service Project at Reed and spent a summer volunteering in a small Quechua community in the Andes. After graduation, Ryanne earned a grant from her alma mater to intern with a small nonprofit in La Manzanilla, Mexico, teaching ESL courses for local children and adults and coordinating a summer arts and English camp. She then lived in rural Thailand for a year, where she enjoyed teaching English to high school students, traveling through Southeast Asia, and learning about Thai language, history, and culture. Ryanne currently works full time at Putney Student Travel, where she organizes programs in Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Nicaragua, and is a member of our Outreach Team. Ryanne is fluent in Spanish and has led our Community Service Ecuador & the Galápagos and Community Service Costa Rica programs.

MAXIMILIAN MOHR

The College of William and Mary, B.A., Linguistics (minor in Hispanic Studies)

During college, Max focused on linguistics, fine-tuned his Spanish, and traveled on a service trip to rural Panama. While spending a semester abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Max studied intercultural communication and international business. He also worked as a journalist through his study abroad organization, writing about Argentinian student life and culture. Max spent two summers as an outdoor adventure camp counselor, mentoring youth of all ages, and interned in the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. For his senior capstone project, he completed an introductory grammar of the Burmese language. Max currently works as an independent music instructor, teaching piano, guitar, and drums to elementary, middle, and high school students. He is also an avid songwriter and improv comedian. This fall, Max plans to teach English in South Korea. He is proficient in Spanish.

KRISTA OLESON

The University of Texas, B.A., Psychology, B.A., English, B.A., Spanish; Lipscomb University, M.Ed., Education

During college, Krista studied abroad in Madrid at Universidad Pontificia Comillas. While there, she lived with a host family, became proficient in Spanish, and developed her interest in Spanish art, history, and culture. Krista has interned with Project Transformation to plan and run a day camp for children in East Dallas, taught after-school programs for second graders, and spearheaded volunteer service projects throughout the Austin area. Trained as a Teach for America corps member, she recently received her M.Ed. from Lipscomb University and currently teaches fifth grade writing and ESL at a charter school in Nashville, Tennessee. Krista is fluent in Spanish and has twice led Putney’s Pre-College Madrid program.

IVAN ZEAVIN-MOSS

Middlebury College, B.A., Economics

Ivan grew up in Brooklyn, and spent summers backpacking and volunteering with sustainable agriculture initiatives in Peru and Guatemala. While at Middlebury, Ivan focused on economics, Spanish, and Portuguese. He spent a semester abroad in Montevideo, Uruguay, fine-tuning his Spanish and working as an English teacher. This past year, he taught English in the Andean pueblito of El Triunfo, Ecuador. This fall, Ivan will begin work at the United Nations as a translator, and hopes to pursue a Fulbright to teach in Latin America. In his free time, Ivan enjoys the outdoors, runs, and reads voraciously. Ivan is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese and French. He has been a staff member on Putney’s Pre-College at Amherst College program.
