8:00: Breakfast at Coco’s
What better way to start a Costa Rican Day than desayuno at a local Tico joint? Cocos offers a delicious and dependable array of eggs, fruit, cereal and of course, gallo pinto. Students know they need to fill up for the activities ahead.
9:00: Language Activities
Students have the opportunity to improve their Spanish through hands on activities in the community of Playa Hermosa, including grocery shopping or games on the beach. To meet the needs of all students, the leaders host two different classes, one for beginners and another for more advanced students.

You go, Nate! Learn that vocabulary!
12:00: Lunch, at Coco’s again
To make the most of an adventure-filled day, we stop by Coco’s for a quick lunch. Rice and beans, grilled fish, and pasta are some of the many food choices Coco has to offer. Many students enjoy washing down this hearty meal with some cas or horchata.
1:00: Siesta
During the hottest part of day students have the opportunity to relax (and call their parents, of course). This provides some alone time and a chance to prepare for the afternoon ahead.
2:00: Adventure Activities

Snorkeling. Hiking. Dancing. Listening to lectures from world famous Primatologists. All are things students have experienced during their time in CR! This time of day is usually a favorite for the students, for they get to experience the pura vida lifestyle first hand. The leaders work with a variety of individuals in the community of Guanacaste to ensure students are exposed to all aspects of this beautiful country, from volcanoes to merengue.
5:30: Rest
At this point in the day, students usually need two things: a shower and a chance to lie down.
6:30: Dinner at Aquasport
Sometimes the group may have dinner at Coco’s, but we like to mix it up once in a while. Aquasport, a local seafood joint on the beach is a great play to enjoy some company and some fish tacos.
8:00 Nightly Meeting and Group Activity
Nightly meetings are a chance for the group to be together and to bond. Students can give each other shout outs, as well as share highs and lows of their day. These meetings are usually accompanied by a calm activity in the villa, such as a riveting game of mafia or a trivia showdown. Students enjoy hanging out and relaxing during this time.
9:30: Light’s Out
We want to ensure students are getting plenty of rest for this very active program. Therefore, students are expected to be in their rooms by 9:30.
