Orientation Under Way!

Hello one, hello all!

We’re all settled into scenic Playa Hermosa for our orientation. These days have been packed full of getting to know one another, beach & pool time and typical Costa Rican fare over at Coco’s, our go-to meal spot.

Orientation started off with making our very own door decs! Equipped with glue, glitter, sharpies and construction paper, students got to work making personalized door tags for our time at Villa Huetares. After some icebreakers and going over some important information about our surroundings, we headed down to the beach for some necessary ocean time. With sand on our feet and ocean water in our hair we headed to Coco’s and caught the second half of the Copa America final. After dinner, we had our first evening check-in, hashing out the overview of the program and laying out the next day of activities.

Our first full day started with a morning of outlining the Putney spirit and what it takes to cultivate community abroad. After a filling lunch and subsequent siesta, students embarked on an all-around-town scavenger hunt which was followed by refreshing pre-dinner pool/beach time. We grabbed dinner on the beach at Aquasport and walked along the beach before heading home to unveil our mystery excursion: a day trip to Rincón de la Vieja National Park! A long hike, thermal springs and mud baths, and tubing await! Stay tuned for more updates!
